Hi Visitor
E-Quipped to…Rev Up Your Resolutions
The holidays are over and a new year has started. Most of us, having shaken off the sloth that comes with the over-indulgence of the festive season, are feeling energised and motivated.
We are determined to make this year our best one yet.
We dust off gym memberships, clean out cupboards and, of course, make that mandatory list of New Year's Resolutions.
Take a look at your 2011 list. How many resolutions on it also appeared on last year's list? Isn't it bizarre how we make the same resolutions year after year, with the same determination and conviction to stick to them - but we don't.
Why?
Because we sabotage our dreams, unconsciously maybe, but effectively none the less!
How Do I Sabotage My Dreams?
We commit this sabotage in three ways:
1) We don't believe in ourselves. 2) We don't make a plan for our own dreams. 3) We don't review our plan regularly, changing it as our lives change.
What Can I Do To Stop The Sabotage?
If you want to realise your dreams, you need to do the following:
- Develop good self-esteem
- if you have high self-esteem you value yourself.
- Factor in your beliefs and emotions
- different people experience the same situations in different ways. Our behaviour or response depends on our beliefs and feelings. Review your beliefs about yourself, and create new ones based on your current reality.
- Define your own values
- values give you direction and help you make important life decisions.
- Find your own purpose
- your purpose is the long-term reason why you are doing something. It gives meaning to your life.
- Create your own vision
- you need to know where you want to go. Decide what little steps you need to take to achieve your vision. What are the five most important things you need to do today to get to your dreams? These little steps are your goals. It is by achieving your goals that you are able to realise your dream.
Read more about how to do this in my article "Stop Sabotaging Your Dreams...Start Living Them!"
Living the life of your dreams takes time and effort, and many people feel that they don't have the time to do what's necessary. If this is what you are telling yourself, you're saying that you're not worth spending time on, and are not important enough.
That message is coming through loud and clear and you believe it!
STOP! Now is the time for YOU and YOUR dreams.
Happy New Year!
