Hi Visitor E-Quipped to...Resolve to be Resolute! This newsletter refers to Stop Sabotaging Your Dreams, a comprehensive article found on my website. It is only the third Monday of January and already many of us have broken our New Year’s Resolutions! Yup – the University of Scranton, Journal of Clinical Psychology cites research done on New Year’s Resolutions and says that by the end of the first week 25% of us will have broken our resolutions. By the end of the first month nearly 40% of us will have broken our resolutions and by the end of 6 months 54% of us will have broken our resolutions.. |

How Many of us Achieve Our Resolutions?By now you are probably wondering just how many people are successful in achieving their resolutions for the year. The answer is a little sad… a mere 8%. But don’t despair. If you are one of those people who make resolutions then it is worth knowing that people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions. So keep making them… it is worth it! The trick is to learn why it is that we don’t succeed and how to change that. So why do we sabotage our resolutions? Why don’t we fulfill our dreams?. Why do we Sabotage our Resolutions? We all know that if we want to live the life of our dreams we need to have a plan and set goals. Teachers, motivational speakers and coaches have been telling us this for years... but it isn't working! Very few people are actually living the life they thought they would. The life they dreamed they would. Why? Because we sabotage our plans! Unconsciously, of course, but very effectively all the same! We commit this sabotage in three ways:
Read ‘Stop Sabotaging Your Dreams’ for more information about the three forms of sabotage. How can I Stop the Sabotage?First, Believe in yourself. Have a healthy self-esteem. The most important judgement we will ever have to pass in life is the judgement we make on ourselves. Whether you achieve your goals or not depends on your beliefs. Henry Ford said: "Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't – you are right." To achieve your dreams....believe you can! Second, Make a Plan for Your own, Unique Dreams. Have dreams that are entirely yours based on your own values and your own purpose. Create your own vision – not the vision imposed on you by society, but a vision that is uniquely yours. Have you taken the time to even think about what you really want? If you want to achieve your dreams, you must know what they are. You must know what your vision is - for yourself and for your life - and then put that into action by taking the little steps that will get you there. Third, Review Your Plan Regularly Keep up to date with the changes that are happening in your life, as you live your dream. Life is dynamic, not static. Realise that you cannot commit to something forever – life is not the same forever. Your visions will change - and that's absolutely fine. There are no rules. Be creative and flexible. Keep changing what you do as required. Have balance! Stop the sabotage! Resolve to be resolute - now is the time for YOU and YOUR dreams.
