Secrets To Success

The Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA) has launched its first book, Secrets To Success In The Corporate World. It comprises 10 chapters, written by 10 members of the PSASA, and is aimed at equipping leaders who want to hone their skills and succeed in the corporate world, and in life.

My chapter is called Stop Sabotaging Your Dreams, in which I explore the reasons why we unconsciously, but effectively, sabotage our desire to live our dream life - and what we can do to change our faulty belief systems, and ultimately live the life we really want to.

If you would like to order copies of this book, please contact me.

Price: R140.00 (Excludes postage)

Change your Head Talk

Head Talk is that inner voice which constantly gives us negative messages.  Changing your Head Talk means changing these negative beliefs and transforming the unhelpful messages you give yourself into positive messages.

To help you do this you can:

  • Notice your conscious beliefs that stop you achieving your dreams, and create new beliefs that allow you to achieve them.
  • Write a list of affirmations and read them every day.
  • Seek help from a psychologist to make your unconscious beliefs conscious, so you can work with them.

Get Real

This involves becoming authentic, genuine and totally true to you. To achieve this requires answering three important questions - What are my values? What is my purpose? What is my vision?

To help you do this you can:

  • Spend time and effort getting to know your own personal values and creating your own personal vision.
  • Choose your own purpose.
  • Create a vision board that comes from your own inner being (not society's impositions).
  • Seek the help of a coach to help you find your values, vision and purpose.

My Life Lesson Learnt in Ronda

Ronda is one of the oldest towns in Spain. Its origins can be traced back as far as 700AD, although the "modern" town dates back to the 11th Century. The "old" and "new" towns are built on either side of the spectacular, 100m-deep El Tajo Gorge, and are linked by a series of bridges, one of which was built by the Romans and is still in use today – albeit only by pedestrians. The main bridge – also still used today – is the Puento Nuevo, an architectural marvel built between 1755 and 1793. The bridge is one of the most photographed in the country, and to me stands out as symbol of the incredible power of the human mind and spirit. It was built over 250 years ago, without the help of computer-aided design or high-tech equipment – something modern engineers and architects would never dream of attempting.

The successful completion of this bridge is a huge lesson in what human determination and vision can produce. We are so often hindered by our beliefs about what we can and can't achieve, and don't always reach our full potential simply because we tell ourselves we can't do it. But if we don't impose limitations on ourselves, there's no limit to what we can achieve.
